Knit, Knit, Knit
Back in the Fall I asked David if I could knitting classes for my Xmas gift from him. There's a darling little yarn shop on Grand Ave called The Yarnery, and one night while we were walking up and down Grand I saw a group of ladies in the window of this shop (which is an old house) knitting. It looked like so much fun, and I had decided I was in need of a hobby. So in January I began taking classes there. The first class I took was the beginner's class and we learned to make mittens:
I quickly became obsessed with this hobby, and I pretty much knit from the time I get home until bedtime. If I got to a stopping point between classes I got so bored, so I made a scarf for David while he was on tour*. (*another reason I decided to do this) The scar was nothing special, I didn't have a pattern. I was just wanting to practice and see how to do it. It's a colorblock pattern so he's definitely following current fashion trends :)
Then I decided to take the next class: Advanced Beginners. That title makes us feel good about ourselves...I just happen to have a friend at church who is expecting a baby boy(March 10), so I thought I'd make a little baby blanket for her. She requested a small blanket for stroller/car seat and I found a pattern that looked like fun at the Yarnery and started working on it.
I had a class cancelled one night, and of course I was bored waiting for the next week so I started two more projects. My friend Ashton requested a headband/ear warmer for to keep her ears warm while she's on recess duty, so I made this for her:
I need to put a button on that and then it will be finished. I'm also learning how to do a cable knit hat right now, so I'm not done so no picture yet. David has been wanting me to post these, so there ya go! If someone has a special request, I would love to learn to do more things, so facebook me or email me if you're in need of something knitted. Just make sure you give me plenty of time before the date its needed!!
p.s. The high today was 72 degrees which set a record for the highest temperature for March 14th. This is the average temperature of June 3rd up here....hahahaha!!!!! I hope this doesn't mean I'm in for an Arkansas summer!
